Testimony to commitment to the future alpaca wool industry we invite you to view our latest crop of magnificently fleeced cria from our 2010/11 Summer/Autumn drop by Windsong Valley Iceman and Regal House Mr. Darcy both National Australian Supreme Champions themselves and breeders of champions.
With shearing coming up in Spring, our next workshop 21 August and will be presented jointly by Illawarra and Coolaroo Alpaca Studs. It will look into fleeces required by the end market user, and how, as breeders we present these fleeces to the manufacturer to maximise quality in a finished garment, as well as to a fleece judge in competition. Participants will examine the SRS breeding progamme and learn how to take your own animals forward to fast growing wools that exhibit 'true' high density levels with advanced attributes of lustre, alignment and extreme softness.Some further topics covered are our experience breeding alpacas for generations utilising advanced breeding techniques, SRS© and Embryo Transfer procedures. Alpacas from these herds have been exported worldwide.
Coolaroo's aim is to ensure alpacas bred here provide exquisite end product, to meet the demands of a highly competitive world textile industry. Working closely with The Alpaca Centre, Australia they have trialed manufacturing their wools since 1992 the aim being to promote a fully integrated alpaca industry.
